you do get guaranteed admission to good programs if you do a 2yr degree at Virginia CC with a minimum GPA.... Good way for HS screwups to redeem themselves and eventually graduate from UVA or Tech (or GMU to study under the most interesting overly online econ profs 
) -
The same thing applies in California. You can do a contract to go onto a public 4 year but you have to do a set curriculum and also pass all admissions tests.

Can we incentivize those colleges to switch to trade schools? We need more people in skilled blue collar jobs (eg plumbers, electricians, hvac).
