There’s a lot of very, very, very, very bad “Instagram is like Big Tobacco” talk on cable news tonight. Please stop and consider that cigarettes have killed thousands and thousands of people and Instagram has not!

Where are you getting 500K deaths from? There are ~130K lung cancer deaths in the US each year and they’re not all caused by smoking.

Well, I stand corrected. I suppose I’ll leave it up to the eggheads at the cdc to crunch the numbers, but I never would have guessed smoking accounts for ~20% of deaths annually.

As someone that knows the CDC is run and operated by charlatans, and ideologues that lie with the ease that most people breathe, and their number of deaths they attribute to smoking is wildly over inflated, smoking still kills a LOT of people, and it's shocking that nobody cares.
