instead of repealing sec 230 (stupid) why can't fb/etc open up a conduit for various govts to place algorithmic injunctions on posts that it might consider hate speech

bc that would violate the first amendment. private companies are the only entities actually legally capable of speech mod like this, which is why they’re being pressured so relentlessly by the press. no one can actually make them, so the hysterics are amplified to max.

@stephen_wolfram proposed a more general purpose version of this where one could pick the algorithm the curates their newsfeed (marketplace).@jack tweeted about it too. Business wise could work since you commoditize the complement to a strong network.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
