the main reason why reddit brain is so brutally dated is probably just the forum structure doesn't allow for much cultural evolution at all. too much stuff codified and the upfront costs of doing anything new are enormous

IMO the networks that sustain are the ones that are in a constant state of rebirth. a confusing part about it is that sometimes feature/brand updates don't correlate to this (e.g. Facebook (blue app) has "innovated" a lot, but the network has been stagnant. Twitter, the inverse)

nah i don't think that really limits things that much, there are new ppl popping up on here constantly w fine handles — imo the limiting factor on here is difficulty in gaining momentum from a new small account but it still happens enough that it doesn't feel stagnant
