This joke captures a deep truth. Tech gets blamed for a lot of problems that predate it. Even today, the worst clips I see propagated on social media (everyone’s favorite boogeyman) originated on…Tv.

Yeah, I don't get it either tbh. Pre-Instagram there's literally no place where you can see people looking like you, everywhere you look in papers and media, only super beautiful people. Isn't the "body positivity" movement originating from social media?

Like, I'm gonna be super defensive of social media always. No one at school shared my passion for maps. I started a FB fanpage about it, next thing I know I have 100k followers and my grandma and her friends watch me on TV and jobs come to me.
