Makes sense, and definitely stepping back, increased authoritarianism is the larger scale risk over the past few decades. I think it’s just the current nexus of policy and fatigue which caused your tweet to be where I felt the need to express my frustration for where we are.

A lot of it comes down to a lack of trust. Not having mandates for USPS or congress, but having private businesses at over 100 people enforce it. Doing it through Osha. If we didn't have health authorities lie and fail so miserably, we wouldn't have such problems.

One issue that I think doesn't get enough coverage is incentives for increasing hospital capacity. My local hospital system has 30 ICU beds, the same amount as in 2020. Why isn't more being done to increase bed counts for endemic/seasonal sicknesses 2 years in?
-
It's the nature of ICU's to run close to cap. It's misleading that they say 30 beds. It's most likely flexible, but agreed this is a bottleneck. Having said that people who get the vaccine are largely safe from this fate. People who refuse the vaccine must deal w/the consq.
