all of the responsible coverage (everything on nyt for instance) has fallen into the first category but im sure it's a much more lucrative move to say "the media is lying to you"
i don't know if it's a fair thing to ask, but i honestly don't think this sort of thing would be interpreted so widely as "the media" if responsible parties in media more forcefully called out the bullshit in public.
