sure, the press should call it parasite medicine commonly used in both humans and animals that the AMA strongly opposes for covid treatment but any press criticism ought to hold in perspective the fact that team ivermectin's advocacy is more damaging than horsey drug headlines

It's not more damaging when the press loses any and all credibility. Those people who don't trust them aren't going to listen to them, and so the press is no longer part of the conversation. In this particular case, throw in all the 'experts' who mock them too.

press criticism is fish in a barrel stuff. the media is a collective noun, and many ppl in that collective suck at their job. this has always been true. back to reality: what matters more? what we call ivermectin in headlines, or whether it's bullshit?

i don't understand why i'm being so badly misread here, so maybe it's my fault and i'll try again 1. the media shouldn't call it a horsey drug. bad headlines. bad. 2. bret weinstein (eg) is also the media, his bad info is worse than a horsey drug hed, and we should say that, too

I too do not understand why “it’s being wrongly described” is more relevant for some of you than “it’s a snake oil covid cure.” It’s detractors in the media are too obsessed with it, but it’s boosters (ie the Weinsteins) are more obsessed and also more wrong.

i've seen studies indicating efficacy, i've seen one large study retracted. many studies still ongoing. it's not even close to snakeoil, we just don't know. if i worked in media i would simply acknowledge what i don't know, and stop lying to the public for 'their own good'

to be generous, I would say ivermectin is interesting, like many under-studied drugs are interesting, but we have several vaccines, monoclonal ab treatments, and side-effect-mitigating drugs with clearly superior clinical and real-world results (1/2)
