i’m not sure it’s a maga thing. it has some overlap, but it’s a trad right authoritarian thing, which is just really niche. i also think it’s pretty new, which makes it hard to talk about (have been struggling with this myself)

I think a lot of it stems from: 1) the enemy of my enemy is my friend and that group of people just humiliated my rivals 2) they see themselves in a group of resistance fighters taking down “the empire” I’m not sure there’s much more to it than that but could be wrong

Also 3) The talichads vs the pantsuit empire” is also pretty hilarious no matter how accurate it might be Everything has turned into a meme at this point so I honestly think this factors in Not good for the individual or the country but here we are

It’s not niche and it has nothing to do with “trad” or “authoritarianism”. It is because many people who were demoralized just watched a bunch of randos in the desert defeat the largest empire on Earth, which is the same empire that they are up against, albeit from the inside.
