It's really the 90s that was the exceptional period. 60s, 70s, 80s were marked by the struggle against one-party white supremacist rule in the South, the Vietnam war, and the government abuses of the Cold War. In the 90s we took a quick break before returning to our bullshit.

Mimetic rivalry has us in a double-bind within our own culture. That only gets worse with the push for more conformity and rent-seeking. Bitcoin is not a fix, in and of itself, but the spirit behind it is. The antidotes: growth, differentiation, and (dare I say) Christianity.
