Why are banks and payment processors so averse to sexual content? Does it bring some liability or regulatory exposure? Are they trying to protect their brand image? Is it just the personal views of their executives?
i think the steelman of their position is there’s too great a risk of accidentally enabling sex trafficking, revenge porn, child abuse etc. but of course all of those things are illegal and every major company works with law enforcement.
The other part is high rate of chargeback. Astronomical numbers. Affects risk. “Honey; I don’t know why http://HUNGCOWBOYS.COM is on my credit card statement. Must have been stolen. I’ll call them.” Banks and processors that support porn exist, but they’re expensive.
Makes sense I guess. There's pattern across a lot of platforms (banking, social, etc) where there is sex-adjacent bad behavior and the powers that be decide it's a lot simpler to boot all sex content instead of parsing the good from the bad.
