I remember the Dept of State telling all Americans to LEAVE ASAP weeks ago. But there are apparently still thousands there? I think the warning was unheeded to some degree. But I’m sure the translators etc should have been processed as a condition of our withdrawal.

If the state department said this publicly weeks ago, anyone in Afghanistan should have known monthes ago that it was time to go.

They thought they had more time than they did, because the generals told them there would be. We already blew through the deadline months ago. Even so, there was always going to be a crush of humanity at airport though at the last minute, that's just baked into the situation.

It’s crazy how this is how it’s been reduced. We’ve known about the exit for months now so the incompetence can not be overstated. The Afghan gov was never going to stand but that doesn’t mean we should be leaving Americans stranded over there
