also important: it’s completely fine to step back and say “hey we’re not getting anywhere right now, i love you, let’s come back to this when we’ve both cooled off” and go for a walk. you don’t need to resolve things immediately and the relationship won’t fail if you don’t

if the argument / conversation is anywhere near bedtime, the more tired someone is the more unproductive and actively destructive the conversation will become, have a rule that after 11pm you just go to sleep
