i understand arguments for acts of “necessary evil” in the face of existential threat, but is anyone going to make that case in a city like san francisco? there is no crisis here unless you count stupidity.

i understand culture is shifting fast, and it’s increasingly not okay to say things like “forcing people to undergo a medical treatment they don’t want is evil.” but forcing people to undergo a medical treatment they don’t want is still evil, fyi.

Yes we need this. My baby boy will not get the chicken pox, or hepatitis vaccines. It’s our choice.

And you can make that choice because the risk is low, thanks to other people who got those vaccines. I’m old enough to remember polio and the joy & excitement when we lined up at school to take our vaccines on a sugar cube. Like a celebration.

Devil’s advocate: Doesn’t one’s lack of vaccination put other people at risk? Vaccines work, but aren’t 100% effective. So, interacting with unvaccinated person does raise your risk of infection relatively more than interacting with a vaccinated person.
