Why can't the government just build roads? Can a compelling vision of America be that people do and make cool things - paying little in taxes - while the government only builds and maintains roads and other basic services (police, fire, ems, courts)?

libertarians mad because gov has economies of scale / willing to pay diffuse costs; progressives mad bc our greatest socialist programs were for dunking on enemies (GPS, WWII Full Employment)
