What do you think about removing reelection and making the periods 5-7 years instead? Feels like reelection promotes thinking short term (getting votes), rather than working for the long term (even if to be remembered as someone who did good in history).

We had a system for this and a step towards restoring it would be creating a Senate that is appointed by members of their own state's legislature rather than direct elections.
