      Well, DSA folks really are into the thinking of Mao, Lenin, etc., but oppose the violence.       You can’t separate them from their violence—that is their biggest legacy. We’d never cut slack for anyone trying to push Mussolini or Pinochet readings separate from their legacies, I don’t understand why the Left thinks they can do the same.

      Nazism is not equivalent to Socialism. Mein Kampf sets the goal as authoritarian white supremacy, whereas Kapital wants a worker's utopia - no gulags, etc. it's nearly anarchist (ie "the state withers away") There's no morally acceptable version of Nazism, unlike Socialism.

      They're just reading the books and doing about peaceful versions, sometimes they romantically / ironically talk about gulags, etc., but it's not the goal for basically any of them.
