A lot of modern rad-leftie culture is just LARPing as revolutionaries because there's no actual way to make their proposed future happen, and that's one way to sublimate their anger and frustration.

if we're getting into suspected motivations, I think you like to believe the folks over on the left with you (and me) aren't as dangerous because then you'd have to face them. (see it's not a good tactic)

I dated someone that was deep in some very far-left circles in the SF bay area. Hung out at some communal housing. Heads of nation-wide unions that self-identified as communists. They don't just larp and make in jokes.

I'm still close to these people and haven't seen anything close to serious. Show me evidence of that latter that's not an isolated incident at best - you can't.
