i honestly can’t believe we are having this conversation, you do not have a right to put something in another person’s body without their consent — the end

Also, if you avoidably infect someone you should be liable for damages.

if you avoidably infect someone who themselves chose not to get a vaccine?

Or someone who for medical reasons can’t get a vaccine, or someone (like my kids) for whom the vaccine isn’t approved, or someone who got vaccinated and gets a mild case that causes them to miss a few days of work…

adults incapable of vaccinating account for a fraction of our unvaccinated pop, over the last five years there have been strains of the flu riskier to children than covid, and missing a few days of work is not an argument for tyrannyhttps://twitter.com/micsolana/status/1422214603937886213?s=20 …

this is a fraction of the unvaccinated population. we are having a national conversation on the ethics of authoritarianism in the service of protecting around a hundred million perfectly-able unvaccinated adults who know the risks and don't care.

I am literally advocating making the anti-vaxxers pay for the damage they cause. Kill someone on chemo, that’s like a million dollar liability. Ruin my work week, that’s like $5k in damages for each person affected. What’s wrong with that?

i just think it's a lot more complicated than that, and most people advocating such things understand this

The most obvious problem being proving that the person you are suing for damages gave you COVID

@elidourado's argument is libertarian. You have a freedom to life/health, and if something that was in your body takes away that life/health in another person you should be held responsible.

It's also a lot harder to definitely prove with a shadow of a doubt that one person was the cause of infection vs. other behavior. I'm not convinced when people try to blame a specific person as being the cause of an aerosol disease (cough, flu, covid ect)
