what're your thoughts on state school? that was my solution to unaffordability (my parents weren't paying for me) - cheap tuition, scholarship -> no debt. Then I went to Wall Street and discovered the extent of the "value" of prestige degrees (networking mostly)...
i think most of the degrees are still useless, but funding public schools is a much better use of our money than guaranteeing no-cap federal loans for private schools

Yes, Jobs, Gates, Zuckerberg all dropped out, but first they went, which suggests some (perhaps very high) value to having some college. I think it’s diminishing returns: my first year was life-altering, but I learned more that first year than the rest put together.

degree is for midwits on on side there is people who could benefit from it, but probably will drop out in the middle of it with a huge debt, or choose an easier degree that don't worth the debt on the other side there is all

perhaps a hack would be to find community schools or lower tier ones that have high matriculation rates to top Unis. take hella credits at those ones and then graduate in 1-2 years from prestigious Uni after transferring in.
