it doesn’t matter that car break-ins were down in 2020 because tourists stopped coming to san francisco in the middle of a pandemic. it matters that once they stopped coming, the organized criminals responsible for car break-ins switched to our houses, and the city did nothing.

We will see if the people of SF take a stand about @chesaboudin and the inept SF School Board. If they manage to stay in power then the people of SF spoken. And the productive and sane people should just leave.

It’s important to not go quietly though. This stuff is coming to the national level if the rest of the US isn’t tuned in to what is happening or thinks this is just some Fox “fake news”. Moderate liberals need to take a stand against DAs refusing to prosecute crime

there's a measurement problem as soon as there's a wide-spread belief that the DA and police will not do anything data is probably better for home break-ins because it's a whole different level of security violation

This is entirely fair. The city of SF didn't do nothing about the relative rise of home break-ins --- they switched to classifying them as misdemeanors so their stats look better

Can you share with me where they talk more about SF switching break-in’s to misdemeanors? I searched, and found a 2020 CA prop 20 initiative to turn certain misdemeanors into felonies, but not anything recently the other way around.
