ironically, no experience more greatly shifted me away from libertarianism than living in san francisco, a city ostensibly obsessed with public services and yet, despite an historic budget, almost no functioning public services. these days i just want things to work.

neither is most of ideologies... most do not address well *how* to have a good government, they just *want* have some and in the end, everyone want that, especially when you have little of it.

It’s wild, decades of regulations made in SF and most always have the opposite effect of the publicly explained goal. Everything from rent control to decriminalizing theft, all just exacerbate the problem. When will the citizens realize this?

I feel like a crazy person trying to explain that all the partisan / faction labels in SF largely don’t correspond to the real situation in terms of who wants operational capacity vs not, or map to much outside of the SF context.
