the impulse to suppress conversation on the lab leak hypothesis has always been such a bizarre media thing in that it has all the markings of a political motivation, and yet i genuinely have no idea what that motivation is. no one is pro-CCP. what is this about?

Agree it’s a “your enemies can’t be right” but also as a society we have conflated intelligence with a certain cockiness that disincentives the humble act of admitting being wrong. I think a lot of people, especially the media intelligentsia, have internalized that narrative.
