the argument on behalf of tents in the street always seems to come down to a strange sense that every person on the planet is entitled to live, for free, in one of the most expensive cities in the world. this is not realistic?

Me too, I guess I just think we can do better. Certainly what we’re doing right now (across the state really) is a massive embarrassment. But appreciate hearing your perspective.

Economically: Living in a tent is about avoiding owning a car. In a tent I can walk everywhere I need to go. But too expensive to live. A lot of people also just live in cars. Cars are the problem, cities constructed for them.
