would historically altering the structure of the supreme court in an effort to consolidate total power across every branch of government in the hands of one political party be more of a "return to normalcy" or a "healing of a divided nation"https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1380536385958985736 …

Refusing to seat a full 1/4th of the federal judiciary when the other party controls the presidency? Lol, okay.

"bad thing happened so i should destroy the entire judiciary" this is sort of like saying if your boyfriend cheats on you it would be perfectly reasonable to light his house on fire

It's an effort to rebalance after the unethical abuse by McConnell. You're not having an honest discussion.

You don't think altering the number of justices on the court overtly for the purpose of partisan political control (< 9) is comparable to altering the number of justices on the court overtly for the purpose of partisan political control (> 9)?

Not for partisan control. Depoliticization could involve, for example, having 5 judges appointed by Democrats, 5 by Republicans, and 5 agreed upon by the other 10. Wait and see before you assume Democrats will behave like Republicans.
