Federal districts in every other country are not politically neutral. Not sure why it has to be in DC. (Don’t give me founding fathers crap!)
generally speaking i don't care what other countries do, but i'm not even arguing for tradition here. i'm simply saying d.c. is a city INSIDE a state, not a state itself, and if you want to grant d.c. representation there is a way to do that without transparent gerrymandering.

We have Virginia its piece back, just return the rest to WV and MD and maybe keep the mall as a federal district witching Maryland. Anything besides this is just a blatant attempt at Senate packing.

DC isn't inside Maryland in any sense if that's the argument you are making. DC boarders MD and VA and has it's own independent government, fiscal policy, police, ect.
