i've noticed the writers most angry with substack tend not to have readers willing to pay for their work. odd.

I don't have paying readers for my substack, and love substack. Narrative violation, as they say.
i think it's something like: not all writers who lack a paying audience hate substack, but all writers who hate substack lack a paying audience ?

Probably! Of course, I also haven't turned on the paid feature of Substack, which is a minor detail.
