Could be the perfect motive to finally implement thorium based reactors. This is the superior tech for nuke power, safe and scalable (small/distributed), burns existing waste from the old style nukes, and best of all: Commercial thorium opens US rare earth mining!

The solution is a carbon tax. If any other countries want to keep polluting add a carbon tax tariff to all trades with them. It's not that hard. Bitcoin mining will then naturally move to where it's cheapest, which will be renewables.

The real solution is clean renewable energy. It’s about time we transition from fossil fuel into a more sustainable and clean form of energy. Taxes never solved any problems!
