Love the point about max ire reserved for apostates. If you don't believe what you're expected/supposed to, you get killed. But if you're not a part of any team, and therefore aren't expected to toe any lines, you're more free to have divergent opinions.

I used to respect NYT’s reporting. But the last few years of agenda-driven anti-tech reporting has caused me to question the value of their other reporting (ie political). Their tech writers have tarnished the brand in my eyes, someone who’s read it religiously for decades.

If you still think there can be civility on their part you must have forgotten that journalists supported wars with lies & propaganda and then, with a straight face, moralized people's lives into destruction over jokes

“The relationship between the technology industry and the press is hostile because the press believes the technology industry is full of psycho evil people.” I think it’s more that the press resents tech for decimating their business model, and so seeks to paint techies as evil.
