I don’t know what the current CEO of nyt is like, but Mark Thompson who ran it until recently moved from the BBC, where he oversaw a terrible dishonest culture which most resembled medieval court. Nepotism rife, the small guy ripped off whenever possible. Not a great figurehead.

That is correct. Only a tiny fraction will even be aware of it. In the absence of an editor's note or a takedown in a publication of equal stature (The Atlantic, etc.) he is screwed. I'm sure that Cade Metz is chortling right now. It's a shame, but that is the power of the Times.
