also we should of course listen to all of the teenagers at these schools, but no, they aren't in charge of these decisions, and they aren't equipped to make these decisions. this is the responsibility of adults, and the adults in charge need to be held accountable.

on the question of merit. do you think it’s possible to evaluate merit accurately given an uneven basis to start. because i like the idea of merit and would love it to be rewarded but none of the “pro merit” people ever seem to care about this issue
