Can't these people be recalled or fired? A rico style trial / meeting followed by a recall could clear most of the rot out of SF.
-
A recall requires 52K signatures per board member. It’s expensive on a good day. Seven times that is huge.

Proposing to grade the public is a level of condescension which God almighty would need a step-ladder to reach.
-
Democracy might actually work if we could grade our leaders instead of pretending to choose them. C or below and they get replaced. If they get an F they get publicly drawn and quartered.

How on earth did we end up with ideologues like those in charge of education (& ~all other aspects of local government) in a major city is the question really blowing my mind! This needs proper dissection even though universities seem to me like the prime suspect for a root cause
-
“Government jobs tend to self select people who have nothing better to do” seems like an obvious answer. But I’d never be so crass to go there myself.

there’s a large chinese-speaking population in sf, and the city encourages adding the characters when candidates run for office (offers free name translation etc.)

Why doesn't she just write "it took n minutes, don't worry about it", rather than being sarcastic? It's so weird that these are authority figures.
