Mike, thanks for writing this. I think I am certainly addicted to social validation and it's something I'm trying to move away from. I feel my brain tuning to being over responsive to these signals and unable to think. Trying to find ways to reshape how I engage.

I like this post's frame of the problem. I think it's also worth investigating some social equivalent to cryptocurrency's Proof of Work. To update our shared reality, solve a bunch of useless puzzles first. (yes, I realize I may have just reinvented academia)
