  @naval had a great idea, total student debt is approximate to total endowment for all schools. Are colleges for running profits and tax sheltering wealth or education and development of young minds.

  I know right? In every discussion where student loan forgiveness is discussed, advocates never talk about what we do with people who are just starting to borrow for school now; never talk about reducing the cost of education long term.

  If they cancel the loans and also cancel all future loans then most of the schools that are not adding value will probably shut down. Maybe a third or more
