  Americans think they are such free thinkers, their ideas are totally unique & their own. They will never accept that they don't have an original idea in their head, it all comes from somewhere. The echo chamber reinforces & amplifies this in a visceral way.

  It's too easy to find an enemy to blame (Facebook, Twitter, Fox news, CNN, literally anyone), when the true enemy is virality itself: human nature causes us to share content that is enraging, fear-inducing, exaggerated, and worse. optimization for virality has been a mistake
