Nine months back, based on mainstream evidence that was memory holed as the virus grew politicized, I wondered whether the pandemic may have resulted from a lab accident in Wuhan. Here, @nicholsonbaker8 tells one of the most important stories in the world.https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/coronavirus-lab-escape-theory.html …

I was absolutely murdered for this opinion on Twitter, and accused of weaving some kind of "wild conspiracy theory." But the evidence has always been considerable, and after a year of CCP disinformation I think it's time to take this seriously.

There's the geopolitics of the matter, of course, but even more foundationally: Very few are willing to admit that good intentions, expertise and irreducible complexity can and do add up to disaster.https://twitter.com/autonomy_eth/status/1345095643283378176 …

3/x This is the real reason why technocratic utopianism "eat the bugs, live in the pod, take the hormones" is fundamentally chthonic - it removes both the range necessary to produce adaptive response as well as the agency necessary for it.

Have been disappointed to see many immunologists blow off this topic as either irrelevant, uninteresting, or obviously impossible. Circumstantial evidence extends to the sequences themselves. oh, no, an "expert" you want to believe because it makes you feel less scared about the world disagrees with the opinion of many other "experts." however will we parse this?

Twitter mob mentality is fascinating. Every notable event is a pile-on under a single narrative, each person petrified to break rank or even ask “what if”. It’s toxic a d dangerous. Thx for always speaking with an open mind!

it is fascinating. similarly, scientists don't dare to go on the record even if in private they think it's legit. a journalist was describing this as he was reaching out to experts. he lost any trust in scientists after this experience. i should have saved the link to the source.
