The frustrating thing I see is that a lot of tech workers are themselves anti-tech (for the tech they are not working on)
i’ve seen a little bit of this myself, but wonder if it’s just a very loud, very unstable minority voice in the industry, sort of scaring the average person from speaking up
I find this to be an amazing guilt ridden paradox I am still piecing together. But I also think people use words that don’t reflect how they truly feel.
Dunno, after working at Google I'm not feeling like ever working in big tech again. So I see where a lot of this sentiment is coming from, though I'm optimistic about tech in general. It just seems like the opposite of hacker culture in most places rn.
Also something self flagellating about it. A religious guilt element
Could additionally be pet peeves. Knowing plenty of devs who love tech in general, but despise <insert-arbitrary-specific-domain>.

Honestly, just want to share that outgroup essay here. Tech does't think of itself as a single entity for obvious reasons -- they know it very well. But its critics don't.
I hate tech and work in tech. Seems natural if you ask me. I love tech, just hate most of the commies that make up tech
