This resonates with me but I am struggling with how to really fix it. Listen to any SF candidate speak and they always open with how they were born here, their families have lived in SF for generations, etc. And that's what makes them qualified for office. It's very nativist.

If I try to have a political voice but disclose I have *only* lived here for 7 years, I'm dismissed. And that's before saying I work in tech which makes me even more of a villain. It's really discouraging & I imagine may other tech workers feel this when they try to get involved.

anyone who wants to stay here has to just reject the nativism — get mad about it, rather than discouraged, because you should be furious. we live and work here. we pay taxes here. this is our home.
