great article. the reason for the lack of political engagement by tech goes beyond apathy - who wants to work in a system which attracts sociopaths, incentivizes dishonesty, and exposes oneself and ones family to untold harm for trying to correct it? more fun to just keep coding.

agree 100%. just pointing out that to fix it we need to both overcome apathy *and* the visceral aversion to wading into a place many see as a universe where vindictive clowns are at the top of the food chain.
Sadly, it seems like we have had negative progress on getting the evil clowns out of politics. The cancel culture seems to have only gotten stronger too. We all do have to start somewhere.
It’s more like a haunting than a time bomb. You can remove a bomb or call the bomb squad, you can’t remove ghosts. But being in the house pays well and you learn a lot. So you stay ... until the ghosts get violent.
