I think you're right: every single problem "we" as tech workers are facing can be ascribed directly to "our" local government. But that's because "we" for the most part can pay for the sky high rents, those you exclude from "we" and "our" often can't, which illustrates her point.
absolutely insane that you are blaming "sky high rents" on anything other than our land-owning board of NIMBY supervisors who have effectively made housing illegal while the value of their homes has, in direct consequence, sky-rocketed.
Its of course both and thats not "absolutely insane" to point out. You frame it as "government bad" they frame it as "tech bad" but to them tech leaving will solve the problem. Just noting that you say "our problems" you're not really talking about all SF residents.
it doesn't matter how the board frames it. THEY ARE IN CHARGE, not tech. if they wanted to legalize new housing, thus lowering the cost of living in accordance with the laws of supply and demand, they could do that. unclear how that wouldn't help all sf residents but go off.
