as kids, millennial parents truly believed any one of us, at any time, could hack the pentagon, or the CIA, or bring down global banking. they lived in fear of the internet, yes. but they also lived in fear of us. this was technically awesome.

well they were right. one of my friends growing up hacked nasa and got placed in federal penitentiary for 2 years.

Imagine what it was like, a gen X hacker in high school with boomer teachers and parents. I was talking about the rise of things like Ring, twitter mobs, and APTs. They expelled me for showing other kids how to use all the features of the library computer LAN software.

In high school, I changed the windows bootscreen on the family computer to the CIA logo and actually convinced my parents that I'd hacked the CIA.
