people talk about washing their hands of california and moving a few hours away as if america’s largest state economy collapsing into another venezuela isn’t going to impact the rest of the country.

CA is worth fighting for but there is no visible path to savior. Let’s say a Reagan comes along & wins Gov, they’ll get the Rauner treatment by the Bolshevik legislature and lose re-election. Additionally the bases are ~2:1. So the real effort is persuasion at the district level

Why can't the country as a whole be fine while the poorly run states suffer the fallout? Florida has been packed with people and money since the NYgration started.

A large chunk of Florida's economy is attracting retirees from other states, which is not exactly sustainable.

Worse still, what happens if you scale CA's political ideologies to the rest of the country, which seems to be the goal? I'd wager if that's allowed to happen, future conversations won't be around CA's tax base, but whether ~23.8% is a fair exit tax to renounce US citizenship
