sf supervisor in my mentions legitimately doesn’t seem to understand san francisco is in a state of decline. what possible hope do we have of fixing our problems when our elected officials can’t even see that our city is broken?https://twitter.com/matthaneysf/status/1330930055078313986 …

The measure isn't on CEOs that live in SF. And that's what's said in response to every tax measure ever passed, unoriginal and untrue. This measure was endorsed by nearly every elected & group in SF, passed 66-34% It'll help us respond to health crisis in our city and streets.

Well, it starts with electing different people. The issue we don't seem to understand is that this is what the people in SF are electing. If they wanted something different, they'd choose someone different. Don't blame the elected officials. Blame the electors.

I agree. The voters of San Francisco have "suicidal altruism" The voters are good people that feel a moral responsibility to give money to the homeless, no matter what negative consequences are on non homeless

I don't think they understand the impact of remote work. Unlike pre-covid, SF now has to compete with other cities to attract jobs, tax revenue & companies. SF fundamentally has less leverage w/ companies now. If they raise costs too much, they'll move to Austin. @MattHaneySF

Supes don't realize that eroding the tax base (by companies, VCs & execs leaving) will jeopardize the social spending programs that their future political careers are built upon. I wish they could see the connection.

this is an imagination crisis pervading all large institutions. it conceives problems on paper and thinks moving buckets of money around changes reality.
