I'd expect more crimes of desperation and opportunity since so many people have lost their jobs and are struggling to get by. But that doesn't normally carry over to murder! I have no guesses about that.

I certainly don't dispute that a large portion of our property crime is done by organized rings. I'm only supposing that a spike in crimes of opportunity could be caused, at least in part, by increased unemployment.
