I second this question. the optics of this are not good. call her by her actual last name, or just say AOC like everyone else. don't be like one of those guys who pretends he doesn't know how to pronounce "Kamala"

?? If my newspaper decided it was going to refer to her as "Ocasio" or Kareem Abdul-Jabaar as "Abdul" etc. neither our readers nor staffers would stand for it, rightfully. Calling people by the names they call themselves is a standard courtesy in our profession.
