The best two I can think of right now are A) Substack is still new, and hasn't built up long-term trust just yet, although it is looking hopeful, and B) Personal websites can offer a *lot* more customization. But aside from those, I'm obviously long Substack atm

Distribution still matters w/r/t reach. I’m not sure why writing is considered different than any other form of artistic intellectual property where creators engage with distributors for a reason. E.g. Dave Chapelle could easily start a website, but he chooses Netflix.
