by *whom* are the president’s claims being disputed? specifically? the concept of unelected, unaccountable truth arbiters of this kind, in the middle of an election, is an insanely dangerous precedent. we at least deserve to know who they are.pic.twitter.com/Repo2TLqu5

They act like voter fraud is impossible which is nuts. Philly, the city currently ignoring a court ruling to allow Republican poll watchers in, has a history of voter fraud.https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/former-philadelphia-judge-elections-convicted-conspiring-violate-civil-rights-and-bribery …

That's what really bugs me the most. Fine, dispute tweets, but at least give ANY information about the specifics. Twitter is also running the crudest word detection filters, e.g. on Arizona Ballot Sharpie.https://twitter.com/Torchiest/status/1324127246857228289 …

What we do know @jack has unchecked veto power in decisions on Trump. Even if they had consistent principles (and they definitely aren't consistent), the lack of check on @jack or any future Twitter CEO should always be a concern.

Counterpoint: a U.S. president making these claims is an incredibly dangerous precedent. I don't disagree that they should be open about their sources, but the primary dialogue should be about the President's abhorrent behavior.

Turn it around. Who is the authority to attest to a statement like- "I won the election" ? There is no single authority. It's a fucking lie. And the platform- which is not a common carrier utility- can decide to selectively not accept lies for publishing.

In that case Twitter is not a platform but a publisher (curated content) and loses section 230 protections.

Also, the President can literally speak to the entire country anyway he wants. The fact that he keeps choosing to do so through one company’s platform is telling. And weird.

No.... no.... you just can't just openly spout disinformation that undermines our democracy as the president of the united states. it doesn't work that way. regardless of party. this is a terrible precedent
