when someone tweets in a very very crazy way — not just 'wrong,' or 'annoying,' but actually shocking — it's worth attempting empathy rather than racing for the easy dunk. my sense is a lot of people on this site aren't bad, they're just legitimately mentally unwell.
this is not to say "don't ever dunk," which would of course be highly LOL coming from this asshole. i'm just saying we aren't all playing with a full deck, so maybe add a mental health check to your "should i / shouldn't i" calculus before piling on to an easy target.

Empathy is a great initial reaction, but after a while of the behavior continuing (especially if it’s harmful to people), dunking is a great way to incentivize them to stop
For some specific conditions like personality disorders, any attention, positive or negative, makes them want to keep going Illness isn’t rational and Twitter is a death trap for them
