Radical take: don't moderate social media at all except to remove illegal material (child pornography, shouting "fire"). Volume makes it impossible to moderate consistently let alone fairly, and the internet as a whole is impossible to moderate anyway as some sites choose not to.

It took thousands of years of human development to produce a law protecting the right to absolute freedom of public speech. I hope it doesn't take similarly long to realize this approach is also necessary with the platforms on which discourse increasingly takes place

If only there existed 200+ years of litigation & judicial rulings around appropriate limits to free speech that we could use as a guideline for what's considered reasonable in our society.
