      I had a hyperactive thyroid as a kid due to Chernobyl proximity. Docs told my parents I can't use computers because they "cause excitement". So I compiled my programs to a tiny VM I made up, and ran them in my head. I don't recommend it for your kids, but it does build character.

      Ha, your childhood hardships were the same as mine. My parents refused to let me get a Nintendo so I had to write my own games. Made a version of Bomberman in QBasic
